Each area designation is labeled with the unit name. Also, attributes were added to the spatial data file in order to provide the user with not only the the statutory and regulatory references for this law, but also the name and contact information of the state agency that maintains regulatory jurisdiction. The ability to visualize regulations, laws, or management structures can help policy makers understand use conflicts, point out inconsistencies in national or state policy, and educate the public about ocean issues. In addition, georegulations allow the user to view the spatial extent of certain laws concurrently with natural resources that many seek to protect. Attributes are believed to be accurate. LOGICAL CONSISTENCY REPORT: Data are believed to be logically consistent, although not tested. Geometry appears to be topologically clean. COMPLETENESS REPORT: DEM continues to add new polygons (1-2/yr) as new ACECs are designated. As of date of publication, however, data were complete. HORIZONTAL POSITIONAL ACCURACY REPORT: The accuracy of this data set is based on the accuracy of source data. (see metadata for ACEC). PROCESS DESCRIPTION: Only the outer boundary of each polygon was necessary to depict the area of applicability for the state legislation. Consequently, any interior line segments or polygons that did not impact the outer boundary and and that had identical attributes were dissolved. Attibutes fields were added to the data layer to provide the necessary legislative and contact information.
